Neighborhood Eyes & Ears

Whether you are busy at home or out of the area, our patrol is keeping a sharp watch on the area. The patrol cars drive past your home 5x/day, to provide maximum deterrent and to be on hand is needed.

  • Alarm Response by patrol personnel - Members may add IGI to their alarm contact by selecting that option on the Homeowner Information Form.
  • Vacation watch - Extra surveillance during your planned extended times away. Members may sign up for this service using this form: Vacation Watch Request.
  • Quarterly report from the volunteer Board about the patrol service and crime in the area.
  • Annual membership meeting - Includes an association financial report of the past year, proposed budget and patrol updates. The patrol service leadership and Oakland Police Department have been past guest speakers.
  • The Board liaises with six neighboring security associations (Oakland hills and adjacent areas), covering membership drives, fee structures, communications with members and OPD, and patrol service options.

Coverage Area

Montclair Security Association currently covers a portion of the Montclair village residential area. The patrol weaves through the designated area in varying routes during on-hour days. Members are able to contact the patrol car via mobile phone for assistance or in case of emergency.

Dedicated Professional Security

  • Contract with a private security company, currently Intervention Group, Inc. (IGI).
  • Paid for by members who pay an annual fee
  • One-year membership commitment facilitates contract discussion with patrol company
  • Annual contract and service delivery negotiated and monitored by the volunteer Board of Directors
  • Patrol hours (quantity and schedule) determined by the Board in consultation with IGI and based on funds available.

Reacting to Current Events

The volunteer Board of Directors monitors crime statistics in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. They work both with OPD and the security company to adapt and improve the effectiveness of the patrol on a monthly basis.
